CVS now charges $25 for an EZPass unit. When you go online to activate it, there is a non-refundable charge of $15 to activate and a monthly fee of $1 per tag.

(Plus the $2 service fee to CVS). What you end up with is $8 on your account to use. What a ripoff! I called customer service to complain but off course no sympathy.

The "Terms and Agreement" in the package with the unit did not mention the $15 fee. Only mention was a $10 deposit that is refundable when you return the unit in good working order.

The Terms online are different when you register the unit. BEWARE!!!!

Reason of review: Pricing issue.

Don't think that the PissedConsumer173**** read the back of the package, when heshe purchased the transponder, however if they want to purchase a transponder they can go online and purchase one from the state and they might receive it sometime in the up coming summer,

Thatโ€™s the kind of ripoff that you get with a monopoly. Ticks me off to no end that I have to pay for the privilege of paying them.

Very good to know this up front about CVS. Thank You

I read though info at the EZ-pass website. Unless I misunderstood, it doesnโ€™t seem to matter where you buy it - there is a $15 transponder fee online, as well as the $1 per month.

Plus a $7 shipping charge, so $2 to CVS is actually cheaper if you live near one of the locations that sells EZxpass. Everyone should do his or her own research donโ€™t just take one online review for truth.
